Queen City Ballroom is proud to welcome Luis Rivera and Dilandia Acevedo to our staff of instructors!
Just moved from New York City, Luis and Dilandia are specialists in Salsa, Casino Rueda, Bachata, Merengue, and all types of Latin Dancing. They plan to add a unique flare to Queen City Ballroom’s future showcases with their electrifying Fire Dance Display! Luis and Dilandia bring tremendous knowledge to the Charlotte dance community. They will be teaching everything from the latest Salsa moves to the most dynamic and exciting exercise classes in the city.

In his home country of Honduras, Luis began dancing at a very young age and worked hard to achieve many accolades. He received the distinct honor of being named First Dancer in the National Dance Company. His career has been an inspiration to many young dancers in that part of the World. Dilandia moved to New York from her native Dominican Republic. She is a well-known cultural dancer and middle-eastern dance specialist. She has been featured in many shows in Manhattan and elsewhere. Luis and Dilandia combined their talents in New York to form a partnership that has led to a fiery blend of culture, fitness, and dance.

Latin Fusion is a combination of Salsa, Afro-Cuban, Hiphop, Bollywood, Belly Dancing, and more! Classes are fast paced and fun using all kinds of cultural props. Scarves, skirts, and maracas will fly while you get fit & have fun! Luis and Dilandia hold Latin Fusion Classes Monday and Wednesday at 6pm and Sundays at 1pm. World Exhibition Champion Victor Da Silva will be in Queen City Ballroom for coaching and choreography April 16 & 17. Victor is undefeated in the World Exhibition standings and he has choreographed for the finest shows in the world. His dynamic style always leaves students wanting more.

World Latin Champion Shirley Ballas Coming to Queen City Ballroom

Shirley Ballas is the eight-time undefeated World Champion of Latin Dancing. She is the top consultant for ABC’s Dancing With the Stars and is known throughout the world as the defining voice in competitive latin dance. She is coming to Queen City Ballroom on February 27 & 28. Shirley and colleague Yegor Novikov will offer two days of coaching and Latin dance instruction. There will be two Special Workshops. On Monday, February 27 Yegor teaches and Tuesday, February 28, Shirley will teach the finer points of Latin Technique at 8:00 pm. For prices and further information, call (704) 541-5440.

Queen City Ballroom joins Louis van Amstel’s LaBlast Lifestyle and Fitness Program

Five Queen City Ballroom Instructors have passed the Certification Exam for Louis van Amstel’s LaBlast Lifestyle Fitness Program. LaBlast is a partner-free dance fitness program using all the dances from ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

“LaBlast is a workout in disguise!” says Louis. It is a perfect balance between dance and fitness, having fun while burning calories at the same time. The program attracts students of all ages, levels of fitness with varied goals. Queen City Ballroom Hosts a Champagne Open House on February 7

Queen City Ballroom will open its doors Tuesday, February 7 at 8:45 p.m. for a Special Guest Open House. Anyone new to ballroom dancing or new to Queen City Ballroom is invited to attend. Queen City Ballroom students are asked to bring a guest. Students get a free lesson for every guest they bring that signs up. At the end of the evening, we will have two prize drawings… one for our new guests, and one for our students. This is a great opportunity for you to help your teacher and promote your favorite studio. There will be a show by the Queen City Ballroom staff of professionals. Refreshments will be served. Gianni Caliandro & Arianna Esposito – 2nd in Open to the World!

Orlando, Florida was the location for the most exciting finish yet for any dance couple from Charlotte, NC. Gianni Caliandro & Arianna Esposito from Queen City Ballroom returned from the United States Dance Championships as Vice Champions placing 2nd in the United States Open Amateur International Ballroom Championship. Congratulations Gianni & Arianna! We look forward to many more exciting finishes in the future!
